 Here's a step-by-step guide to baking a basic vanilla cake:


Ingredients


For the Cake:

- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder

- ½ teaspoon salt

- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

- 4 large eggs

- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

- 1 cup whole milk


For the Frosting (optional):

- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

- 3-4 cups powdered sugar

- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

- 2-3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream


Instructions


 Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Pans

1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Prepare Pans: Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line them with parchment paper.


Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.


Step 3: Cream Butter and Sugar

1. Beat Butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer until creamy and smooth.

2. Add Sugar: Gradually add the sugar, continuing to beat until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).


Step 4: Add Eggs and Vanilla
